Snack Rehab Necessary for Successful Weight Loss

Snacks are actually a fundamental part of our diets. Many people eat five meals a day to keep their metabolism revved, so it helps to think of your snack as a mini-meal. The problem is, many people equate snacks to treats, reaching for chips or a candy bar to get them through the 4 pm slump. Hitting up the vending machines can really do detrimental damage to our diets.

One of the integral components of safe yet quick weight loss programs is to realize that a snack can satisfy your craving, while still providing nutrients and fuel for your body. This simple mindset shift can result in weight loss.

Avoid sugary snacks like candy and empty calorie choices like chips and dip—all they do is provide a sugar or carb rush. Instead reach for vegetables and hummus, or fruit and a handful of some antioxidant packed nuts like raw walnuts, almonds or cashews. It’s good to do some food combining to get a little bit from more than one food group. If your cravings are out of control, medical weight loss pills can help eliminate cravings for the wrong type of food (*make sure your medical weight loss program uses only FDA approved weight loss pills).

Other good choices include Greek yogurt, an apple with peanut butter or low-fat cottage cheese. Our Pasadena or Orange County medical weight loss clinics sell some amazing snacks and meal replacements that were developed by the former head of the American Diabetes Association. Our weight loss centers sell delicious protein, appetite control crisps, smoothie and shake mixes, and more. Come browse the delicious selections at one of our Pasadena or Orange County medical weight loss clinics.

Change your snacking habits slowly, maybe incorporate one healthy snack at a time. This will help you maintain this behavior change for the long-term.

3 weight loss methods to incorporate into your weight loss program

There are three weight loss methods you can choose from to help you lose weight and maintain your weight loss goals. These methods include diet and exercise as well as prescription medical pills. The problem with most weight loss methods, however, is that many people want to lose weight quickly and with minimal pain and the least amount of effort.

It would be great if there was a medical diet pill that miraculously cured obesity and magically made your waistline shrink to half of its original size, but the truth of the matter is that most weight loss methods that actually work do indeed require a little bit of effort on your part and a great deal of discipline to put forth such effort whether you feel like it or not.

One weight loss method worth trying is to eat smaller portions more frequently instead of eating three large meals  a day. By eating more often, your body will be able to burn fat faster because your keeping your metabolism working at an accelerated level. The best way to eat smaller portions at mealtimes is to use smaller dishes so your mind think its full faster and to automatically save half your meal for later when eating out.

Another weight loss method you may want to try is actually getting off your bum and start exercising. This isn't exactly the most popular weight loss method, but it is one of the best ones out there. And it really doesn't require as much effort as you would think. You don't even have to spend hours at the gym. All you have to do is spend 10 minutes of your time doing something that gets your heart pumping. A quick run around the block or the park is all you really need. A little exercise is better than no exercise.

One last weight loss method that many people find most attractive has to do with medical diet pills. Most prescription diet pills are designed to help curb your appetite in the form of appetite suppressants. Medical diet pills can prove to be a great weight loss method in conjunction with medical supervision, proper nutrition and regular exercise.

These are just three of many weight loss methods to incorporate into your personal orange county weight loss program. What are some other weight loss methods you have tried? Did they work? Why or why not? Feel free to share your answers in the comments below.

How to make the most of your weight loss program

If you're like most people, losing weight can seem like a losing battle with yourself, but it doesn't have to be with the right weight loss program and proper discipline. Yes, we know... disciplining yourself isn't always easy, especially if you're the type to make excuses after excuses. We've all been there.

You tell yourself you'll wake up an hour early to go for a jog, but by the time morning comes, you'd rather sleep in because you stayed up too late the night before. So, you tell yourself you'll go to gym during lunch time or after work, but that never happens because your too busy running errands and what not. Then you resolve to make it a late-night work out, but by the time night fall comes, you're too tired to engage in any physical activity and put it off until morning. And the cycle repeats itself just like that day in and day out. We get it.

So how do you create a weight loss program that works for you, and more importantly, how do you make the most of it? First off all, understand that it takes 21 days to develop a habit and once you've developed that habit, you won't want to break it because it becomes habitual for you. Keeping that in mind, a good source of motivation might be to weigh yourself in the morning. You see, your weight fluctuates throughout the day but you are at your lightest in the morning time, which serves as a good baseline to focus on. For some people, stepping on the scale serves as a daily motivation to get in shape or maintain they shape they are in.

As part of your new weight loss program, make it a happen to ditch the daily cup of caffeine and opt for a different type of energy boost we like to call endorphins. The problem with most weight loss programs is that we're trained to believe that we have to give something up or make sacrifices to achieve our weight loss goals, but this is kind of a negative approach if you really think about it. Instead of making a sacrifice (like giving up that daily mocha latte), resolve to make a replacement. Replace your old negative habits, which probably makes you fill jittery by noon time, with a new positive habit, which will probably make you feel rejuvenated and even energized instead. With that said, exercising after you step off the scale in the morning is probably the most optimal time of day to lose weight because you haven't taken in any calories just yet which gives your body a chance to burn of the fat stored in your body which is where you really want to focus on as part of your weight loss program.

Another suggestion to make the most of your weight loss program is to eat regular meals during the day. Following your body's natural cycle, or circadian rhythm, can make a huge difference and maximize weight loss. You should try to eat at least one hour within waking up and about four hours after that. Then you should have dinner around six hours later. And no matter how tired you are, don't fall asleep with a full stomach. There should be at least a three hour window between dinner time and bed time.

These are just a few ideas and words of encouragement to help you make the most of your weight loss program. At American Weight Loss Centers, we have several Orange County weight loss programs that you may find beneficial.
