Reduce Stress With a Healthy Diet

Stress is a part of life—it’s a fact that we must face and learn how to cope with. If you don’t find healthy ways to deal with stress, it can cause weight gain or obesity. If the consequences of stress eating have you searching for easy weight loss programs or a quick weight loss plan, we have some tips for managing this form of diet sabotage.

Our body’s natural response to stress makes us feel more alert, or “amped” as a result of our natural “fight or flight response,” our defense mechanism against imminent danger. Yet when we’re feeling this way all the time, are immune systems get drained and we may experience fatigue or depression, which often leads to stress eating or craving comfort foods, even when working with medical weight loss programs that include appetite suppressants such as FDA approved medical weight loss pills. While comfort foods may make you feel better for the short term, they are high in calories and also lead to overeating—the opposite of what is required to have success with quick weight loss programs.

Another issue brought on by stress that we see with clients of our weight loss clinics, especially with work-related stress, is a tendency to drink too much caffeine. While it may ward off sleepiness, it can backfire by disrupting your sleep. This is detrimental for any easy weight loss programs or medical weight loss efforts, since sleep is fundamental for a healthy metabolism.

Below are some tips that are integral to stress management and decreasing its effect on your quick weight loss plan or medical weight loss efforts.

Keep it Balanced

Eat balanced meals that include lean protein with each meal. Protein satiates and helps you stay alert. Also make sure to eat whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables.

Don’t Skip Meals

When you’re stressed you may find yourself skipping meals, but this will only drain your energy and lead to overeating, even when you take FDA approved medical weight loss pills. Eat regularly and try eating several small meals throughout the day. If you need to snack, try crunchy foods like almonds or carrots—they relax tight jaw muscles by putting them to work.

Cut Down on Caffeine

Sleep plays too big of a role in quick weight loss programs and healthy living. Don’t do anything to disrupt it. If you take medical diet pills or appetite suppressants, make sure to do so early in the day, as recommended by the physician at your Orange County weight loss program.

Find Other Outlets

We always recommend that clients of our medical weight loss clinics find new outlets for stress relief. Try getting some quick physical active activity in, whether it’s a lunchtime gym workout, yoga class or walk around the block. This will clear your head and get your mind off eating.
